Bright Beginnings Preschool is an independent preschool that meets at Sidney Lutheran Brethren Church. The preschool director and teacher is Misses Kim Youngquist.
Kim Youngquist is a 2002 graduate of The University of Montana-Western with a BA degree in Environmental Science (Biology/Wildlands). Kim married JC Youngquist, who is also a UM-Western graduate with the same degree in June of 2003. Kim & JC lived in Dillon, MT & Whitehall, MT while Kim worked as a college admissions recruiter/counselor for UM-Western and Montana Tech and JC worked for the US Forest service. In December of 2005, Kim & JC moved to Sidney to help JC’s parents run and expand their family business, Custom Fencing & Welding, Inc. In December of 2006 they welcomed their first child, Garrett and last April they welcomed their daughter, Lauren and this fall are expecting their 3rd child. While helping with the bookwork for the family business, working part-time for the Richland County Health Department and subbing in the local school system Kim has also been working on completing her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education through Montana State University- Billings. Kim has a huge love for learning and loves working with young students.
With the frustration of trying to find a preschool in Sidney for her oldest son, she decided to put her educational knowledge to use and decided to open Bright Beginnings Preschool the fall of 2011.
Mission Statement of Bright Beginnings Preschool:
Kim's vision at Bright Beginnings Preschool is designed to meet each child’s social and educational needs; to foster development of competence in intellectual and social skills, and to provide a safe nurturing environment. Play is our work. Bright Beginnings Preschool programs build on the concept of discovery and active exploration as a means of learning that is consistent with a child’s needs and interests. It is a “hands on” educational experience. Just as the whole is more than the sum of his/her parts, (emotions, social, intellectual, language and creativity), the total learning environment is more than the sum of equipment, curriculum and teaching staff.
